iPhone App Review: “TheBestCamera”

What happens if you put IMO one of the most creative iPhone photographers together with an iPhone development firm? Just the best iPhone camera app out there ;-) It’s called “TheBestCamera” (iTunes Store).

Main Screen
When I read the prefix “The Best” on any app (iPhone or not) it’s normally a good sign that it’s just the opposite. But not this time. You got a great app for 2.99 $. It contains 14 non-destructive stackable filters on a cool dock-style panel to choose from. Nothing really special so far.. But here we go! In addition to a great photo app you got a complete iPhone community too!

Browsing photos
TheBestCamera.com is a brand new community especially for iPhone photography. I found myself with the problem which service I should use for my iPhone photos. Twitpic.com? Nice for direct posting from my iPhone, I would like a little bit more of organisation and more community features. Tumblr.com? I tried it, liked it, abandoned it. Too much blog-like, and I have already my micro-blog, and this “normal”-blog. Flickr.com? I love flickr for my photos from my dslr, but for iPhone pictures it’s an overkill. TheBestCamera.com? I can’t say much about it, but it looks really nice, is organized, and fits IMO perfectly in the gap between my flickr usage and my blogging/photo projects.

Sharing your photos with TheBestCamera
One of the main advantages over all the other apps we all love (CameraBag, PhotoFx and all the other ones) is that you can share your pictures directly! TheBestCamera has integration for it’s own service of course, but also twitter, facebook, email sharing, and also saving your photo in the camera roll. And all that power with one button click, after setup ;-)

So would I recommend you to buy this app? Short answer: Go buy it! Now! Long answer: As far as I can judge after 2 days of usage this will be my new main photo app on the iPhone, it’s even on my first page of springboard :-) You get a powerful tool for just 2.99 $, and come on… we paid more money on less useful apps. Give it a try, you won’t regret it. And with such a creative head like Chase Jarvis behind it you can bet to see a lot of cool features in the future.
