And another one… I shot 6 different photos of the 2 flowers I bought some days ago. A great example that there are so many beautiful photos around you, only problem is that you don’t see them yet.

Nothing really creative yet. Most of the day I was either developing some Objective-C or playing PS3. At least I finished inFamous today ^^ And I read a chapter in ‘We’.

It snowed again… after 3 weeks of “acceptable” weather! At least it’s not my turn to shovel the snow this week ;-)

I took one of my shoes and created that footprint on the table on my balcony. Handheld 105mm and afterwards editing in LR with some cleanup in PS.

Watched ‘Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxies’ today… I really have to read the book again!

Macro shots are kinda tricky. They often reveal things you wouldn’t want to show up on a ‘normal’ photo. You see here the texture of my “print box” where I keep my 10×15 prints from analogue photography (until I got something to archive the prints). I think it’s supposed to look like crocodile leather, but it’s just embossed plastic ;-) You see scratches and imperfectness.

Actually, while writing this description I came to the conclusion that this could be a good example for how things loose there perfection when you go close to it, just like people. The more you know about someone the more your “image” about them will fail to be perfect. But just like that box most of the time I don’t even bother. Nothing is perfect in life. Even me ;-)

It’s nearly 8 AM and I’m still at home… but sleeping longer than usual was a good idea, I feel a little bit better. But now I really should get up and go to work. Next week I got 4 free days *hooray* \o/

Still sick… I got a cold or something :-( So I decided to take a shot of something related to it. Because Day 8 was already a shot of pills I took this one. These are paper tissues. I sneeze a lot so I need them ;-)

Edited in LR just a little bit (temperature and cropping). It’s fascinating how the background has become light blue because there’s nothing light blue there!

Haven’t finished “We” by ‘Yevgeny Zamyatin’ yet, but I’m half way through. Don’t really know if I like it yet. It’s great but also strange (and not the good strange sometimes).

I’m sick, that’s why there is a delay in publishing again…

This is a composition of 2 trivet I got for years but only using them rarely. Edited in LR to create a B/W “out-of-focus” style.

Nothing creative today, except about 7 hours of extra sleep…

I wrote about it before, but it’s the little thing sin life that really counts! Like this little Fujisan key fob I bought in Tokyo last year. There was a little bell inside driving me nuts sometimes but being reminded of Japan is always a good thing :-)
One of my “lifetime goals” is to climb up on Mount Fuji, but the 2 times I went to Japan it wasn’t the right season for climbing :-/ Maybe next time, or the time after that, or after that (you see I want to visit Japan some more times ^^).

Shot with tripod mounted 105mm. Lightning enhanced in LR/PS until it looked kinda unreal. I love how the shadow doesn’t seem to be the correct one for the mountain.

This morning I’m in the mood for something abstract and confusing… While still standing under the shower I decided to take a photo of the street lamp in front of my apartment. First I thought ‘crap!’ but then I liked the photo somehow.

You can see 2 street lights (lower left and on the right) and a window (lower left). Everything else is still in the darkness of the night… Only 3 little light points fighting against it. And they won the fight! When I’m looking out of my window I can see the sun rising… the darkness is gone, but not for long….

Nothing special so far this morning… coffee & sitting in front of my Mac!

Very windy today with storm warnings in the whole region. Took the photo from my balcony. Not much more to say. Sundays are kinda boring most of the time…

After Nikon sent me a brand new 50mm f/1.4 after sending it in 3 times I thought it would be nice to actually making photos with the lens! The weather was lovely so I went on a walk. Only problem: it was way too bright! Today photo was shot with an aperture of f/5.6, ISO 100 and an exposure time of 1/2000sec.

The photo may look strange to you because I experimented little bit with different setting sin LR. I started with the color-cross-preset and then fine-tuned until I liked it.

And another one! But I don’t think I can take much more of them… the flowers were stabilized by some wiring and when I removed it they went down really quick. To be honest to increase the message for this photo I also removed some petals, they didn’t fall off by themselves yet.

This time heavily edited with a “antique plate”-preset. Gosh, I love that look! Have to try it with an analogue cam some time… since then you can get some inspiration from great wet plate photos by Heyoka on flickr.

And another one! Also I shot and published it ‘before’ going to work and not in the last minutes of the day :-)

Nothing special though… 3 flower stipes in front of a black T-shirt hanged over my iMac.
As you can see they are starting to wither a little bit, that means not so much more flower photos in the next days.

The third photo of my recently bought flowers. That were 4.20 € well spent :-) Another black and white one to keep it alternating.

Tried many different angles, lightning, background. This one was the best (at least in my opinion). Tripod mounted 105mm with f/36 and 15 second exposure. Had to hold a black T-shirt behind the flower the whole time :-D

Today I finished ‘Brave New World’. I hated the first half, loved the second half, but hated the last chapter… and not in the good way like ‘1984′. Tomorrow I will start ‘Kuroi ushio’ by ‘Inoue Yasushi’ (literally ‘The Black Tide’), but this time a german version. Enough english books for February ;-)

And because I did more than that one shot here a rejected close-up!

Another flower photo. Actually to prove a point. Even though I will explain the specific point in a later blog post on my other blog ;-)

I love macros, but dust/dirt can be a real bitch sometimes… To not have an unsharp photo this time I chose a narrower aperture as usual (f/45). Tripod mounted 105mm with a 30sec exposure at ISO 200. No special lighting, just my normal ceiling lights.

Edited in LR a little bit, added a ‘glow’.

My creativity tip today: Calikartel. Great site with ‘avant-garde fashion’ shots.

The whole day I got something completely different in my head. The photo in my head contained a safety pin, my blood, and a kinda deep message (at least for me). But instead of stinging myself with a needle I bought flowers. Don’t ask… sometimes I don’t understand my way of thinking myself!

Why alone? Well, you can see here 3 flowers, 2 are happily together, and one is standing out… I like the picture, only the flowers could use some more clear definition, it’s a little bit overexposed. Maybe I’m taking some more of them this week.

Still not finished ‘Brave New World’ but I’m close! Has somebody a good suggestions for another book like ‘1984′ or ‘Brave New World’? I ordered ‘We’ by Yevgeny Zamyatin and ‘Fahrenheit 451′ by Ray Bradbury so I got something for the weekend ;-)

Sometimes I have to make such shots. I don’t like it. It’s not a great sujet, I’m not satisfied with it’s sharpness, even the editing is not that great. But I wasn’t able to delete it and not choose it.

It was taken at “Same Same Sushi” in Heidelberg after a very delicious lunch. At home I tried some other photos but they were filled with memories of my past and I wasn’t able to deal with them today, maybe another time…

I finished reading 1984, but I don’t like the ending. Well, the ending is great and fits perfect, but I don’t like the imagination of such an ending in our time/world.

I’m not happy with it. Don’t know why. A little out of focus but if I chose a narrower aperture the reflections of my curtain in the room would be too strong.

These are the pointy extensions for a little ball to build a decorative star I bought about last christmas.

Reached the final part of ‘1984′. What a great book, I’m so glad that I got it for my last birthday :-) For some creative input today I looked through the Flickr Group ‘The Hasselblad (or) Mamiya (or) Polaroid’. I’m totally fascinated by the medium format… and it’s really hard to not buy an old Hassie or Mamiya on eBay! But then I definitely would need my own dev lab!

There are so many people out there not believing in you. They all tell you what you can’t do in your life. But you shouldn’t believe them. You’re able to do anything you want. Show it to them that they are wrong!

The photo is not as I really wanted it, originally I hate something else in mind and I want to realize this thought someday!

On day Day 148 I presented you my newest love. And now I present you my other love, my iMac. I have to work everyday with a Windows PC (because I’m a dotnet developer), but actually I hate Windows! I like dotnet, but Windows… yikes!

But the love wasn’t always there… it all started with an iBook with OS9. But the beta of OSX was included! That was about 8 or 9 years ago. I wasn’t ready for it… many years later I bought a white macbook, and I felt so deeply in love I abandoned all my private PCs. Then I got an MBP, an iMac, an iPhone, and then I replaced the MBP with an Unibody MBP. And of course I got some iPods from different generations.

I read more of 1984. I’m starting to sympathize with Winston… living two lives… one for the others, and one for yourself. The timeless relevance of the story kinda scares me. Am really excited about how it ends!
